We are proud to introduce“The House League”, an adult B/C level hockey league supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Albany. The league is tied to the Capital Cup for Kids hockey tournament held each year at the Knickerbacker in Lansingburgh and run by the same organizers. The league will also benefit Ronald McDonald House of Albany.
The season begins October 6th and 7th, 2013 and ends March 23rd, 2014.
There will be four teams, playing games once a week from October to March.
Each team will play 21 regular season games. The last three weeks will be reserved for two semifinal playoff games and one final championship game. With playoffs, teams will play 22 games with a chance for the coveted 23rd game.
Games will then run every week on Sunday and Monday nights. The league games will be held at the Knickerbacker on Sunday nights from 8:30pm-9:50pm (October) and then 9:00pm-10:20pm (November-March) and also at Albany Academy on Monday nights from 8:20pm-9:40pm.
The first annual House league All-Star game will be held at the Times Union Center.
The league will be B/C level and be governed by the same player evaluation standards and rules as the Capital Cup for Kids.
The games will be refereed and periods will be sixteen minutes in length.
The league will have its own website and stats.
Jerseys will be included in the cost for the season. Jerseys will be AK threads NHL 550A or 550B with sublimated patch or twill.
There will be no additional fundraising pressure on players as we would like to reserve fundraising for the Capital Cup for Kids tournament in May. However, any sub money raised during the season will be donated to the House. We have also budgeted for scorekeepers as well. Any savings through volunteer work for running the clocks will also be donated to Ronald McDonald House.
Providing you are not rated as an A player and fall in the C to B range and you are given a spot on one of the four teams you will then be directed to Chris Turner at Ronald McDonald House who will handle the payments.
The fee for playing is due on September 1st, one month before the season starts. Checks should be made out in full and made payable to Ronald McDonald House of Albany. Please send those checks to Chris Turner, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208. If paying by credit card please contact Chris Turner at Ronald McDonald House. The phone number is 438-2655. You may have the option of paying in two installments. The first half of your balance, 200 dollars, will be run on the September 1st deadline and the second and final installment of 200 dollars will be run on Tuesday, October 1st.
The fee for the season is $400 and includes two referees per game, scorekeepers, website, playoffs and jerseys.
I hope to hear from you as this league has lots of potential going forward. If you have played in the Capital Cup for Kids tournament then you know what that potential could be. So if you are interested in playing in a league that prides itself on good, clean, competitive play, while also making a difference in the community, please consider joining the House League.
